Oakland Unified Employees Seriously Injured in Crash at High and Wattling Streets

OAKLAND, CA (March 31, 2022) – A crash left two school district employees seriously injured at High Street and Wattling Street in Oakland.

According to the KRON 4 News and KTVU News, the accident took place on Wednesday morning. Officers reported the collision at around 7:30 a.m.

The incident happened on March 30 when the two Oakland Unified School District employees were crossing High Street and Wattling Street.

For an unknown reason, a car struck them in the intersection. Police said the victims were on their way to work at a district facilities department at the time.

Distracted Driver Hits Pedestrians

The impact sent both workers into the air and back onto the pavement. The patients sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, as a result of the accident.

Paramedics rushed them to a hospital for treatment. The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, police believed that the woman driving the car became distracted by her young son when she hit the victims.

Officers forced the area of High Street and Wattling Street to shut down following the incident. The Oakland crash is still under investigation.
