2 Badly Injured in Oakley Crash on Bethel Island Road Near Cypress
OAKLEY, CA (September 19, 2021) – A DUI head-on crash left two people badly injured on Bethel Island Road in Oakley.
According to The Press and East County Today, the accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:11 p.m.
The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District said two vehicles collided head-on in Oakley. They crashed on Bethel Island Road, just north of East Cypress Road.
Both cars ended up in a ditch upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, in front of Tail Wag Inn in the 4900 block of Bethel Island.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car Head-On
They then extricated one trapped occupant from the wreck. The drivers of the two vehicles sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon took the wounded patients to local hospitals for treatment. Officials did not disclose their names and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, authorities believed that one of the motorists involved was under the influence at the time. Officers forced Bethel Island Road to shut down for about an hour following the wreck.
The Oakley crash is still under investigation.
