Tire Blowout Causes 2-Car Crash on 5 Freeway
OCEANSIDE, California (March 28, 2016) — At least four people suffered moderate to major injuries Monday morning in a collision resulting after a car blew a tire on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway at Harbor Drive, a California Highway Patrol report said.
One vehicle had a tire blow out, spun around and struck a second vehicle about 6:28 a.m. this morning. Two helicopters transported the four injured victims to two separate hospitals including Tri-City Hospital.
One of the vehicles was described as a brown Honda and it was facing the wrong way in traffic lanes and the other was a black vehicle that was in the center divider.
Police noted it was starting to rain while they were there helping the victims.
An investigation is underway to determine liability.
