Oceanside: Deadly Pedestrian Accident on State Route 78

Car Fatally Hits Man Near Emerald Drive

Oceanside, CA (March 26, 2023) – A pedestrian died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 78 early Saturday, March 25.

The FOX5 News reported a person was seen walking in the third westbound lane of the highway around 4:18 a.m. In the area just east of Emerald Drive, a passing Toyota sedan hit the pedestrian.

According to the article published online, the collision resulted in life-threatening injuries to the victim. Paramedics rendered aid to the pedestrian but he sadly died during transport to the hospital. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.

Meanwhile, the 38-year-old man driving the Toyota appeared unharmed after the crash.

Detectives handling the case continue to work at this time to determine liability in the deadly accident that happened on Highway 78 in Oceanside.
