2 Teenagers Hospitalized After Traffic Collision at Avenida del Oro and Windansea Street Sunday
Oceanside, CA (June 29, 2021) – On June 27, Sunday, two people suffered injuries following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred at the intersection of Avenida del Oro and Windansea Street.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported an 18-year-old was driving a vehicle on the streets of Oceanside. When the car approached the crossing of Avenida del Oro and Windansea, the driver lost control of the vehicle. Officials said the car careened off the roadway and eventually slammed into a tree.
Shortly after 10:20 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location and found the driver and passenger with injuries. Our sources indicated the 18-year-old passenger, complained about pain in the chest and abdomen. Investigators believed the pressure from a seat belt during the impact possibly caused the body pain.
Meanwhile, the unrestrained driver sustained a small laceration to the head.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Major Car Accident in Oceanside, June 27
Responding paramedics transported the two patients to the hospital for treatment. After the driver was medically cleared, police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Further investigation on the DUI car crash at Avenida del Oro and Windansea Street is underway.
