Bicyclist Killed in Crash at Oceanside Boulevard and Beverly Glen Drive
OCEANSIDE, CA (May 22, 2021) – A DUI crash killed a bicyclist at Oceanside Boulevard and Beverly Glen Drive in Oceanside.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and Oside News, the tragic accident occurred early Saturday. Officers reported the incident at about 1:50 a.m.
Police said a vehicle going west on Oceanside Boulevard struck a man riding a bicycle for an unknown reason. The driver hit him at the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Beverly Glen Drive.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and then found the cyclist lying unresponsive on the road, west of the intersection. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Man on Bicycle Hit by DUI Driver in Oceanside
Medical personnel soon pronounced the bicycle rider dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police determined that the motorist involved was under the influence when he slammed into the bicyclist. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
Officials forced the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Beverly Glen Drive to close following the collision. The DUI crash is still under investigation.
