2 Injured in Skydiving Plane Crash Landing
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Feb. 24, 2022) — Two people were injured at the Oceanside Municipal Airport when a skydiving plane crash landed in a field near State Route 76 and Foussat Road.
The crash happened about 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 24th, according to Oceanside Police and San Diego 10 News. It’s unknown at this time what caused the single-engine Cessna 208B to crash land.
Two people were aboard the skydiving plane operated by GoJump Oceanside when it took a hard landing near the runway at the Oceanside Municipal Airport. The plane went down in a field just short of the east end of the airport, according to spokeswoman Jennifer Atenza.
Police and fire crews responded to help those hurt in the incident.
Darren Mohle, and an unidentified man he was training to pilot the plane, were transported by ambulances to hospitals, police said. One man was in critical condition and the other in moderate condition, authorities said. Darren Mohle has some fractures in his back, lacerations, and badly hit his head, a news report said.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area, but there are no road closures.
Federal Aviation Administration is heading up an investigation into what happened.
