Pedestrian Injured in Oceanside DUI Crash on South The Strand
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 2, 2022) – A pedestrian was hospitalized after a DUI crash on The Strand near a park in Oceanside.
According to an article published by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the collision shortly before 10 a.m.
The incident happened on March 1 when a truck drove off South The Strand, just south of the Tyson Street Park. Oceanside police said the vehicle accelerated and then struck a male pedestrian.
The truck went over boulders along the street and came to a stop in the ocean. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Man, 68, Hit by Drunk Driver
Medical personnel found the 68-year-old man who sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. They took him to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at the time. Meanwhile, police determined that the 55-year-old man driving the truck was under the influence of alcohol.
They arrested and booked the driver into the Vista jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. His passenger ended up released at the site following the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of South The Strand to shut down for two hours after the pedestrian accident. The Oceanside DUI crash is still under investigation.
