OCEANSIDE (August 30, 2016)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a Robert Tremeir McCorkle, 37, of Oceanside, suffered fatal injuries in a car accident Sunday evening.
The incident took place at roughly 7:20 p,m. at the intersection of westbound Highway 76 and Old Grove Road.
Per the incident report, McCorkle was the driver of a 2015 Volkswagen stopped at a traffic light at Highway 76 and Old Grove. After the light turned from red to green he entered the intersection and was struck by a second vehicle.
McCorkle’s vehicle spun out of control and hit a light post causing fatal injuries to the 37-year-old Oceanside man.
The cause of death was determined to have been severe blunt injuries to his torso, the report added.
The Oceanside Police Department will handle the investigation.
