OCEANSIDE: Semi-Truck Crashes into Starbucks on Coast Highway

Two Injured in Crash into Coffee Shop on Coast Highway
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (May 8, 2025) — A semi-truck driver was among two injured early Wednesday when his truck crashed into a Starbucks coffee shop on Coast Highway in Oceanside.
The single-vehicle collision occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th at 801 N. Coast Highway, the Oceanside Fire Department reports.
Investigators are working to determine if the driver had brake issues as he was exiting State Route 76, according to Wes McGee, a battalion chief with the Oceanside Fire Department.
Police and firefighters responded and located the massive truck stopped inside the electrical room after it went through a single wall block, according to fire officials. This led to an electrical hazard and power was shut down to the building to allow firefighters to rescue the trapped truck driver.
Paramedics responded and transported the driver and one of the Starbucks employees to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Finally, the building was closed pending a complete structural evaluation, officials said.
