FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (June 19, 2023) — Ofelia Santana, 35, of Fresno, died in a rollover crash at Jensen Avenue, just west of Del Ray Avenue in Sanger.
She was a passenger in a vehicle that overturned in a solo crash on Friday, June 16th, according to the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle identified as Michelle Vega, 45, was arrested for felony driving under the influence and booked into the Fresno County jail, ABC 30 News reports. She is being held in lieu of $102,000 bail.
Police say the vehicle was traveling westbound on Jensen Avenue when it entered the median and the driver overcorrected towards the right shoulder where it crashed and overturned.
Ofelia Santana was a passenger and was not wearing a seatbelt. She was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene. Michelle Vega suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
The deadly crash remains under investigation.
