2-Vehicle Collision at McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street
Fresno, CA (June 5, 2023) – A California Highway Patrol officer suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street, the FOX26 News reported.
Our sources indicated the CHP officer was helping chase a suspect in the area near the intersection of McKinley and Fresno. When the deputy approached the crossing, he slowed down before entering the intersection. The collision happened when another driver drove into the crossing at the same time and slammed into the patrol vehicle.
Deputy Hospitalized After Car Accident in Fresno
Shortly after 7 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the injured CHP officer, then transported him to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. The name of the injured deputy remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
During the investigation process, authorities learned the driver that hit the patrol vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Police cited the suspect for driving with a suspended license and for driving under the influence.
Detectives handling the case continue to work to determine several unclear factors surrounding the traffic accident that happened at McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street.
