Redding, CA (August 4, 2022) – A California Highway Patrol officer suffered injuries following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway.

According to Action News Now, and KRCRTV the CHP officer was responding to a two-vehicle collision that happened in the northbound side of I-5 in Redding.

Earlier reports indicated the officer stepped out of the patrol car to check on the parties involved in the crash. For reasons still unclear, a motorist approaching the scene lost control and struck the patrol car. Officials added the car also hit the officer standing in the roadway.

Minor Injury Collision on Interstate 5 in Redding

The force from the impact resulted in minor injuries to the CHP officer. Pending confirmation, the name of the injured party remained undisclosed.

At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the accident that happened on Interstate 5 in Redding.
