Officer Jeremy Cooper, Driver Hurt in Collision on Highway 49 Near Magers Way Thursday
San Andreas, CA (August 19, 2021) – Two people, including 38-year-old Officer Jeremy Cooper, suffered injuries following a car crash that occurred on Highway 49 Thursday afternoon.
According to My Motherlode, Officer Jeremy Cooper was heading to a disabled vehicle. The car ended up blocking the roadway on Highway 4 and Ponderosa Way in the Angels Camp area. While traveling on Highway 49, the marked patrol vehicle collided with another car.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 17-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra on Magers Way. Officials said the teenager was waiting to turn left on Highway 49. For an unknown reason, the Hyundai entered the freeway and drove into the path of the patrol SUV.
The two vehicles collided in the area of Highway 49 and Mags Way at about 2:03 p.m.

When medical personnel arrived at the site, they immediately rendered aid to the deputy and the other driver. Our sources mentioned both parties sustained minor injuries. However, paramedics reportedly transported Officer Jeremy Cooper to the hospital as a precaution.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the car accident in San Andreas.
