Motorcyclist Killed in Oildale Crash at State Road and Airport Drive
OILDALE, CA (May 28, 2023) – A crash killed a motorcyclist at State Road and Airport Drive in Oildale.
According to the Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place late Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck on May 28 shortly after 11:15 a.m.
The incident happened when a male motorcycle rider was going west on State Road, approaching Airport Drive, in Oildale. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling north on Airport.
For an unknown reason, the northbound driver ran a red light at the intersection. Police said in the process, the vehicle collided with the motorcyclist.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Motorcycle Rider
Firefighters along with the paramedics then arrived at the scene. They found the rider who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the victim to a hospital, where he soon died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police added that the other motorist stopped and stayed at the site following the wreck. Officers forced the area of State and Airport to shut down for a time after the accident.
