Woman in Wheelchair Killed in Oildale Crash Near Chester Avenue and China Grade
OILDALE, CA (April 26, 2022) – A crash killed a woman in a wheelchair near Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop in Oildale.
According to the Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place on Monday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 8 p.m.
The incident happened on April 25 when an elderly woman in a wheelchair and a vehicle were both heading west on a green light in Oildale.
Police said the driver made a right turn for an unknown reason and then struck her. The motorist hit the pedestrian near the intersection of North Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the victim down on the ground. She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital, where she died. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the woman. The cause of the fatal Oildale pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the area of Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop to shut down for a time following the incident.
