Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Car, Driver Injured
OLD TOWN, San Diego County (July 20, 2017) – A fatal pedestrian accident took place on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Old Town Avenue Wednesday evening, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.
As per the article, the California Highway Patrol was notified at 8:50 p.m. of a pedestrian seen near the right shoulder of the freeway. About half an hour after the call, the person reportedly stepped onto the northbound lanes and was struck by a passing Honda CRV.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities described the deceased as a homeless woman.
Meanwhile, officials said the 50-year-old Honda driver, a National City resident, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
All northbound lanes in the vicinity of the accident were blocked for the investigation with the exception of the No. 5 lane, CHP said.
