
Oleksandr Borysov, 44; and Hanna Borysova, 30, Injured in Placer County Crash
PLACER COUNTY, CA (January 29, 2023) – A fatal DUI crash left Oleksandr Borysov and Hanna Borysova injured on the Interstate 80 in Placer County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the Roseville residents as victims in the wreck which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Oleksandr Borysov, 44, and Hanna Borysova, 30, were riding a Toyota Sienna east on the Interstate 80 in Placer County.
At the same time, a GMC Sierra was traveling at an unsafe speed in the area. The male driver of the GMC truck looked down at his phone as the traffic began to slow in front of him.
He looked up, failed to see the slowing vehicles and slammed into the back of a Toyota Highlander. The Highlander then struck the rear of the Sienna, east of Penryn Road.
1 Killed in Wreck
The Sacramento Bee and FOX 40 News wrote that the collision occurred on January 27 shortly after 4 p.m. near Penryn. Oleksandr Borysov and Hanna Borysova sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics arrived and provided treatment to the patients. The two 1-year-old children in the Sienna ended up unharmed following the accident.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the man driving the pickup truck was under the influence of drugs when he hit the Highlander. He survived the incident with possible broken ribs.
Medical personnel rushed the suspect to a hospital, where officers soon arrested him for DUI. The motorist in the Sienna died in the wreck.
The Placer County crash is still under investigation.
