1 Seriously Injured in Olivehurst Head-On Crash on Highway 70
OLIVEHURST, CA (March 3, 2023) – A wrong-way DUI crash seriously injured one person on Highway 70 and Olivehurst Avenue in Olivehurst.
According to an article published by the KUBA Radio, the accident took place early Thursday. Officers reported the wreck on March 2 shortly after 12 a.m.
The incident began when a late model Honda Accord was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 70 in Olivehurst. At the same time, a Ford Ranger was going south.
The California Highway Patrol said the Accord then slammed head-on into the Ford. The two crashed on southbound Highway 70 at Olivehurst Avenue.
Wrong-Way DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the driver of the Ranger who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the name of the wounded victim and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the wrong-way motorist was under the influence of alcohol when they it the other car. They soon arrested the suspect for DUI causing injury.
Officers forced the southbound side of the Highway 70 to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Olivehurst crash is still under investigation.
