SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 13, 2023) —Omar Cruz Barrera, 23, died in a motorcycle accident Friday on the Harbor 110 Freeway, just north of the West Slauson Avenue off ramp.
The deadly crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway about 6:14 a.m. on Jan. 13th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The motorcyclist reportedly crashed into the gore point between the HOV and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes. The rider was ejected off the bike and landed in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes. That’s when an oncoming motorist ran over the rider in the roadway. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded, but sadly the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The Los Angeles Sheriff Coroner later identified the victim on its website.
Meanwhile, someone called 911 to report the crash and told operators he lost his bumper after running over debris in the roadway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash. It’s unknown if another vehicle was involved at this time.
