Omar Enriquez, 29, Killed in Santa Cruz Motorcycle Crash on Mission Street
SANTA CRUZ, CA (February 19, 2021) – A motorcycle crash killed Omar Enriquez near Mission Street and Fair Avenue in Santa Cruz.
The Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office said the 29-year-old Capitola man died following the accident which occurred on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened on February 18 when Omar Enriquez was riding a motorcycle northbound on Mission Street. For an unknown reason, he collided with the side of a passenger vehicle.
In the process, the rider lost control and then fell off his bike near the intersection with Fair Avenue. Police affirmed that the wreck took place at about 5 p.m.
Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Fair Avenue
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Enriquez suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took him to the Dominican Hospital where they pronounced him dead. The Santa Cruz Sentinel and KION News reported that multiple vehicles were involved in the fatal crash.
Meanwhile, deputies did not mention if any other person ended up hurt following the incident. Officers closed the road between Younglove Avenue and Swift Street for about two hours after the wreck.
