One Dead, Children Injured in Riverside Crash on 215 Freeway

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (May 30, 2025) — Juan Carlos Medina Paniagua, 26, of San Bernardino, died over the Memorial Day weekend after a crash into an SUV carrying children on the 215 Freeway, near Columbia Avenue in Riverside.

The deadly collision occurred on southbound I-215 around 9:33 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th, according to the Press Enterprise.
Investigators report the young man was driving a Honda Accord and allegedly speeding when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. The SUV overturned onto its side and four children and one adult from the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Paniagua became trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by arriving firefighters and taken to Riverside Community Hospital where he later died at 11:15 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
The incident remains under investigation.
