One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks

1 Killed in Rollover Crash; Two Injured

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2026) – Tomas Venancio Medel, 60, died early Sunday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a rollover on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks.

Two others were taken to a hospital with injuries following the wreck reported at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1st, on the I-405 near the Ventura (101) Freeway interchange, according to the
California Highway Patrol.

The person who died was thrown from a vehicle that overturned during the collision, police said. The unidentified person died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported two others to the hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Due to the extent of the collision, authorities issued a SigAlert and closed down all northbound lanes for roughly five hours.
