One Killed in Wrong-Way Driver Crash on I-5 Freeway in Clarksburg, CA

CLARKSBURG, CA (Oct. 5, 2026) — One person died and a second person was hospitalized following a wrong-way crash in Clarksburg on the I-5 Freeway early Sunday morning near Hood Franklin Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The head-on collision occurred around 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 5th, according to the CHP report. Police and paramedics responded to a crash scene on the freeway north of Hood Franklin Road. A driver traveling in the wrong direction on southbound Interstate 5 crashed into another motorist.
Authorities confirmed the wrong-way driver died at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver from the other vehicle was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
The investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
