ONTARIO, California (September 21, 2014) – Two 16-year-old Chino High School students were killed Thursday night in a rollover crash on S. Grove Avenue, just north of Mission Boulevard, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
About 10:33 p.m., Ontario Police officers responded to the collision and found a single vehicle had rolled over and became engulfed in flames after its driver veered off the road hitting a wall and a pole. Two teenaged girls were dead, Valerie Zavala, 16, and Julia Salas, 15, both of Ontario were pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the vehicle was reportedly a 16-year-old without a license. There was also an 18-year-old male passenger. They were both hospitalized following the crash, but listed in stable condition, according to a report by 5 News.
The police investigation is ongoing and once completed a report will be available to the families of these young people.
