Passenger Killed After Car Slams Into a Pole on 60 Freeway
DATE OF COLLISION: Thursday, September 27th
September 27, 2018 – One person was killed in a suspected DUI collision on the Interstate 60 Freeway near Haven Avenue early Thursday.
According to the Press Enterprise, Pedro Richard Montez was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox on the freeway at an unknown speed. Shortly after midnight, the Equinox reportedly crashed into the center divider and then an exit sign post on the right shoulder.
First responders reportedly found a passenger inside the wreckage. That person suffered fatal trauma in the crash, and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Montez was apparently rushed to a hospital. When he checked out, Montez was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or more while causing injury.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
