Fiery, Multi-Vehicle Crash on 55 Freeway in Orange
ORANGE, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2022) — A multi-vehicle crash on the southbound Costa Mesa (55) Freeway at Chapman Avenue happened Thursday morning in Orange.
The fiery crash occurred on SR-55 about 7:11 a.m. on Sept. 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck, a gray Toyota SUV and a blue sedan collided due to unknown circumstances.
The pickup truck wound up facing the wrong way after it overturned and crashed into the center divider. Meanwhile, smoke was coming from underneath the truck’s cab and someone was trapped in the vehicle. The others vehicles blocked the HOV and No. 1 lanes.
Metro Net Fire Authorities sent firefighters and paramedics to the crash site to help those involved, but there are no further details. Additionally, three tow trucks responded to remove the damaged vehicles.
Also, authorities requested a SigAlert for the HOV and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway crash in Orange.
