Aaron Ortega Vazquez, 22, Identified as Passenger Killed in Crash
ORANGE, California (July 17, 2017) — A vehicle crashed into the center divider and caught on fire in a deadly crash early Monday morning on the northbound State Route 55 Freeway, near the 22 Garden Grove Freeway connector, a California Highway Patrol report said.
UPDATE: Aaron Vazquez, 22, has been identified as the passenger who was killed in the collision.
The crash took place about 1:59 p.m. between two motorists. Two people were trapped in a black Jeep Patriot that caught on fire. The report stated an occupant in a Toyota Corolla sedan stopped and tried to help the victims get out of the crashed vehicle. One person died at the scene and a male passenger was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center where he later died about an hour later.
Two or three wooden poles were knocked over in the collision with electrical wires exposed, but an electrician was on route to help.
The crash is under investigation by police to determine liability, but the initial findings are that one of the vehicles was speeding. The crash also set off a small brush fire.
The names of the two victims have not been released, but will eventually be posted on the Orange County Sheriff Coroner website after their families are notified.
Legal Help for Motorists
When you are injured or have lost a loved one in a traffic accident, it’s important that you take immediate steps to protect your legal rights. Although a police report may indicate a driver is at fault for a crash, the cause of the injuries or death could be due to faulty air bags or mechanical problems.
An attorney will help you identify all parties liable for your losses. The attorney will also determine if a government claim or a manufacturer defect such as a faulty airbag contributed to your injuries and will share responsibility. This is important if there are low insurance limits that may not cover your medical bills. Contact a quality attorney at Johnson Attorneys Group for a free consultation: 800-235-6801.
