Fiery Solo-Vehicle Crash on 57 Freeway; 1 Dead, 1 Arrested
ORANGE, Calif. (March 9, 2020) — A driver was arrested after a passenger died in a fiery crash Sunday on the 57 Freeway in Orange.
The collision took place about 3:55 a.m. on March 8th on the southbound 57 Freeway near the Chapman Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle, which was occupied by two people, went off the roadway and slammed into a tree. Police say that the vehicle then burst into flames.
Metro Net Fire Authority sent firefighters and paramedics to the scene where they put out the fire and pulled out the passenger from the wreckage. The person died of their injuries on scene, but there was no further information about them.
They also transported the injured driver to a hospital where the person was later arrested about 6:05 a.m. It’s unknown at this time what the charges are against the driver.
The crash remains under investigation.
