ORANGE, California (December 10, 2016) – A police officer was seriously injured in an alleged DUI crash early Saturday morning on North Cambridge Street, according to KTLA.
As per the article, Orange police responded to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway about 3 a.m. and a found a man asleep at the wheel of the truck.
In the process, a car crashed into the patrol vehicle and struck an officer who was standing outside his unit.
The Orange Police officer was transported to a hospital with major lacerations and broken bones. He underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the patrol car was pushed into the back of the truck that the police were responding to. The man inside was unharmed.
California Highway Patrol affirmed that the woman driving the vehicle which struck the officer was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. She was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
Several other vehicles were damaged following the incident.
