Oriana Rousseau, 22, Badly Injured in Tustin Fatal Crash on 55 Freeway
TUSTIN, CA (February 26, 2021) – Oriana Rousseau was hospitalized after a fatal DUI crash along the 55 Freeway in Tustin.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 22-year-old Newport Beach resident as one of the victims in the wreck early Tuesday.
The incident happened on February 23 when Oriana Rousseau was driving a 2012 Lexus RX350 in the No. 3 lane of the southbound 55 Freeway.
At the same time, a 2008 BMW 335i was traveling at a high rate of speed behind in the same lane. CHP said the BMW then struck the rear of the Lexus, just north of the 5 Freeway.
Anthony Robles, 27, Arrested For DUI
The Lexus rolled over as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed Oriana Rousseau to OC Global Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
Firefighters pronounced a female passenger of the BMW dead at the scene. The Orange County coroner’s office named her as 24-year-old Esperanza Cruz, of Anaheim.
CHP determined that the motorist, 27-year-old Anthony Robles, was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred. Authorities soon arrested the Rowland Heights man on suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced the 55 Freeway to shut down for about two hours and 15 minutes following the Tustin crash. The tragic collision is still under investigation.
