2 Women Killed in Orick Car Crash on Highway 101
ORICK, Humboldt County (May 23, 2018) – Two women were killed in a traffic collision involving a truck on Highway 101 Wednesday afternoon, according to a local news source.
Primary reports indicated the accident happened at approximately 1:20 p.m. when a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup veered off the roadway and overturned, for reasons still under investigation.
The Silverado apparently came to a rest in the middle of the roadway where it was struck by a Peterbilt tractor trailer.
Deadly Car and Truck Crash Wednesday in Orick
First responders found the driver of the Silverado, and a solo-passenger both unconscious in the vehicle. Shortly after the crash, both female parties were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The names of the fatalities remained undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the truck operator involved was unharmed in the crash.
The exact cause of the deadly crash is still under investigation.
