OROVILLE (February 3, 2017)- According to Action News, a devastating fatal crash occurred Thursday evening around 7:00 p.m. on Highway 70 in Butte County.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash involving two cars at 7:00 p.m. including a Ford Mustang and a Honda Civic.
Authorities have disclosed that the 48-year-old driver of the Honda Civic had been accompanied by three passengers; a 53-year-old woman, a 42-year-old woman, and a 6-year-old child. The Civic had been traveling southbound when for reasons unknown the driver veered into northbound lanes and struck the Mustang head-on.
Inside the Mustang was a married couple from Oroville identified as Lawrence Grundmann Jr., 77. and Kathleen Grundmann, 77.
Per the article, both Lawrence and Kathleen Grundmann were seriously injured and rushed to Enloe Medical Center located in the city of Chico. There both remain in serious condition at this time.
All four occupants in the Honda tragically did not survive the impact of the crash as each of them were tragically pronounced at the scene. The victims remain unidentified at this time.
CHP will investigate and will determine what caused the collision.
