OROVILLE, California (September 2, 2014) — A woman was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a collision involving at least four motorists on the northbound Highway 99 at Nelson Shippee Road, just south of Chico, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 10:56 a.m., CHP officers responded to the crash involving one car that landed in a ditch and other blocking the northbound lanes of Highway 99. One of the vehicles involved was a Ford Explorer that was towing a boat that was rear-ended. The boat being towed came off its trailer. Local Animal Control officers were called to the scene to assist with a large husky dog that was running loose in southbound lanes of the freeway.
A SigAlert was issued for the injury accident as traffic was reduced to one lane while tow trucks removed the disabled vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up an investigation into the collision to determine liability.
