Bicyclist Injured in Truck Accident in Otay Mesa
OTAY MESA, Calif. (June 6, 2023) — An Otay Mesa accident involving a bicycle rider and a dump truck happened early Tuesday on Britannia Boulevard.
Firefighters rescued the bicyclist after he became trapped underneath the commercial dump truck around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision between the bike and dump truck. San Diego Fire-Rescue officials say the man was “not under the load,” but it took roughly an hour to rescue the him because they had to stabilize the truck first.
Paramedics transported the injured man to a hospital where he was treated for possible internal injuries considered life-threatening from the bicycle accident on Britannia Boulevard.
The case remains under investigation by the San Diego Police Department.
