Rider Run Over, Killed by Big Rig Near Airway Road
Otay Mesa, CA (February 20, 2023) – A 43-year-old man died following a traffic accident that occurred on La Media Road, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune News.
Earlier reports indicated the victim was riding a Vespa-like motor scooter traveling on La Media Sunday evening, February 19. For reasons still unclear, the motorcyclist fell from his scooter and was run over by a semi truck.
The horrible crash took place shortly after 8 p.m. near Airway Road.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the rider lying on the ground. Paramedics said the victim suffered skull and rib fractures. Despite life-saving efforts performed by medical personnel, the rider sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
