Crane Collapses, Falls on Construction Workers
OXNARD, Calif. (April 12, 2019) — A 54-year-old Palmdale man was killed and a second man was hurt Thursday afternoon after a crane collapsed at an Oxnard construction site.
The incident was reported about 1:40 p.m. to the Oxnard Fire Department. Officials were told that the crane had fallen while it was lifting a heavy concrete wall in the 3000 block of West Camino del Sol. The 54-year-old carpenter, who was working at the site, was struck by the falling wall or crane.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to the Oxnard Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation by police and the California Division of Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Cal-OSHA).
