Woman, 44, Killed in Oxnard Bike Crash at Hemlock Street and Seaside Drive
OXNARD (June 18, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed after a traffic collision in the area of Hemlock Street and Seaside Drive Tuesday morning.
Police said a 44-year-old Port Hueneme woman was riding a bicycle west on Hemlock Street when she turned left into the path of a 2006 Ford Explorer.
The Ford was also headed westbound approaching Seaside Drive when the driver failed to avoid the cyclist and ultimately struck her at the intersection.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Car in Oxnard Tuesday, June 18
According to an article written by The Ventura County Star, paramedics responded to the scene and found the rider down on the ground and suffering from major injuries as a result of the crash.
Police affirmed that the victim was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura where she later died. The fatal accident was reported at about 5:30 a.m.
Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Oxnard man driving the Explorer stopped following the wreck and cooperated with the authorities.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
