Bicyclist, 45, Killed in Oxnard Crash on East Wooley Near Saviers
OXNARD (October 10, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed after a traffic collision along East Wooley Road late Thursday morning.
According to an article published by The Ventura County Star, the fatal accident was reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. west of Saviers Road.
Police said the incident began when a 45-year-old man was riding a bicycle east in the westbound lane of Wooley Road.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Truck in Oxnard Thursday, October 10
A 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer was going west when it hit the cyclist. Paramedics responded to the site and pronounced the rider dead at the scene.
His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police initially believed that the operator of the truck took off following the crash.
Officers later located the big rig and determined that the 55-year-old man involved did not know that he struck the bicyclist. He cooperated with the authorities. The incident remains under investigation.
