Bicyclist Killed in Oxnard Crash on Channel Islands Boulevard
OXNARD, CA (February 25, 2021) – A bicyclist was killed after a crash along Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard.
According to The Ventura County Star and KVTA News, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 4:25 a.m.
The incident happened when a 39-year-old Oxnard man was riding a bicycle on Channel Islands Boulevard, west of J Street. At the same time, a 2018 Ford transit van was going westbound.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Van Near J Street
Police said for an unknown reason, the van then struck the cyclist. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and found the rider suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel later pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old Oxnard man driving the Ford stopped following the crash. The motorist stayed at the site and cooperated with the authorities.
