Man, 58, Killed in Oxnard DUI Hit-and-Run Near Rose Avenue and Tiesa Lane
OXNARD, CA (July 17, 2022) – A DUI hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Rose Avenue and Tiesa Lane in Oxnard.
According to The Ventura County Star and KVTA News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the collision at about 3:30 a.m.
Oxnard police said a 2020 Dodge Challenger struck a male pedestrian in the city on southbound Rose Avenue. The car hit him near Tiesa Lane and south of Gonzales Road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived near the St. John’s Regional Medical Center. They found the 58-year-old Santa Barbara man down on the ground.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
The victim ended up suffering from critical injuries as a result of the incident. Medical personnel then pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the male driver did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the area.
They soon located and arrested the 20-year-old Oxnard man on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI and felony hit-and-run.
Officers forced southbound Rose Avenue to shut down between Tiesa Lane and Cesar Chavez Drive for several hours following the collision. The fatal crash is still under investigation.
