Man Attacked by Dog in Eureka
EUREKA, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2024) — A 70-pound pit bull dog named Claudia viciously attacked Pablo King at a relative’s Eureka home on Jan. 28th, but he wasn’t the dog’s first victim.
The dog had been declared vicious in March 2023 after an attack in the Trinidad area on Ted Pease, his wife Brenda and their dog Stella, according to East Bay Times. Last year’s attack left the victim with a partially severed finger, but the latest victim suffered more severe injuries to his face and was treated at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Pablo King was a guest in his brother-in-law’s Eureka home and was there to watch the 49ers game. He was attacked by Claudia in the backyard in an incident that went on for roughly two minutes before the owner came to pull the dog off.
Paramedics responded and the injured man was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka and then airlifted to UC Davis in Sacramento for surgery.
It’s unknown if there will be criminal charges brought against the dog’s owner who was staying at the victim’s brother-in-law’s home at the time of the attack.
The Eureka Police Department received the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office report and working on the case.
