
3 Injured in Pacific Beach DUI Crash on Interstate 5 Near Balboa
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 18, 2023) – Several were injured after a DUI crash on the Interstate 5 near Balboa Avenue in Pacific Beach.
According to an article published by the CBS 8 News, the accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck on February 18 at around 9:49 p.m.
The incident happened when a Lexus SUV and another SUV collided in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego. The two cars crashed on the southbound Interstate 5 near Balboa Avenue and Garnet Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol said the Lexus became disabled and obtained severe front-end damage upon impact. The other vehicle rolled over and then plunged down an embankment.
Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and freed three trapped female occupants of the overturned SUV from the wreckage.
Medical personnel rushed the rescued women to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the woman driving the Lexus was under the influence of alcohol when she hit the other car. They soon arrested her for DUI.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 to shut down near Balboa following the wreck. The cause of the Madera County crash is still under investigation.
