
Motorcyclist Injured in Car Accident in Pacific Beach
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 22, 2024) — A motorcycle rider was injured Sunday night in a car accident on Grand Avenue in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at around 8:33 p.m. on July 21st in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue, according to the Times of San Diego.
The San Diego Police Department responded determined a 22-year-old man riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was broadsided by a 2020 Jeep Cherokee.
The motorcyclist allegedly rode in the bicycle lane to pass stopped traffic on Kendal Avenue, police said.
The rider entered the intersection and was hit by a 33-year-old man driving the Jeep after he made southbound turn from Grand Avenue onto southbound Kendal Avenue.
The motorcyclist suffered an open fracture on his left shinbone and calf bone, police said. Paramedics transported him to a hospital.
The SDPD Traffic Division is heading up the investigation.
