Pedestrian Critically Injured in Pacific Beach DUI Crash at Garnet and Everts
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 30, 2022) – A DUI crash at Garnet Avenue and Everts Street critically injured a pedestrian in Pacific Beach.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and CBS 8 News, the accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the collision shortly before 2 a.m.
San Diego police said the incident happened when a motorcycle rider going east struck a male pedestrian in the Pacific Beach neighborhood.
The victim was trying to cross Garnet Avenue at the intersection with Everts Street at the time. Firefighters arrived at the scene and soon found the person who sustained critical injuries as a result of the accident.
Drunk Motorcyclist Hits Victim
Paramedics rushed the 21-year-old man to the UC San Diego Medical Center and listed him in critical condition. The 30-year-old man riding the Harley Davidson sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, medical personnel took the rider to the Scripps Mercy Hospital for further aid. The names of the wounded parties were not released.
Police believed that the motorcyclist was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the victim. He then slammed into a parked Prius nearby.
Officers forced the area of Garnet and Everts to shut down fir a time following the pedestrian collision. The Pacific Beach DUI crash is still under investigation.
