Pacific Beach Pedestrian DUI Crash Mission Boulevard Thomas Avenue

Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Pacific Beach DUI Crash at Mission and Thomas

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 22, 2023) – A DUI crash seriously injured a pedestrian at Mission Boulevard and Thomas Avenue in Pacific Beach.

According to an article published by the ABC 10 News, the accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the collision on January 22 at around 6:35 p.m.

The incident happened when a male pedestrian was crossing the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Thomas Avenue. He was walking in the marked crosswalk of the Pacific Beach neighborhood at the time.

Man, 30, Hit by Drunk Driver

San Diego police said a car approached and then struck the 30-year-old man. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of a broken leg, fractured back and neck, as well as head trauma. The report did not disclose his name and condition at this time.

Meanwhile, police determined that the driver was under the influence when he hit the victim. They soon arrested the 60-year-old man for DUI.

Officers forced the area of Mission and Thomas to shut down following the DUI incident. The Pacific Beach pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
