1 Killed, 6 Injured in Pacific Palisades DUI Crash Near Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 8, 2023) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured two others near Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades.
According to the KTLA News and ABC 7 News, the tragic accident took place early Saturday. Officers reported the collision on April 8 at around 12:45 a.m.
The incident began when a Dodge Charger was going south on Pacific Coast Highway near Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
Los Angeles police said the Dodge then slammed into three parked cars and hit a group of pedestrians on the shoulder next to the road. Two of the vehicles and three victims fell onto the beach upon impact.
DUI Driver Hits Parked Cars, Pedestrians
Firefighters pronounced one pedestrian, a 32-year-old woman, dead at the scene. The other two victims, another woman and a teenage boy, and four more people ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
The adult pedestrian survived with serious back injuries and a broken wrist. Paramedics rushed all six patients to the hospital and listed five of them in fair to moderate condition.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police determined that the 21-year-old man driving the Charger was under the influence.
They soon arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. Officers forced the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard to shut down for hours following the accident.
