Pedestrian Killed in Palm Desert Crash at Alessandro and Portola
PALM DESERT, CA (May 5, 2023) – A crash killed a pedestrian at Alessandro Drive and Portola Avenue in Palm Desert.
According to The Desert Sun and KESQ News, the tragic accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the collision on May 4 at around 5:45 p.m.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in Palm Desert. The driver hit the person in the 74000 block of Alessandro Drive at the intersection with Portola Avenue.
Deputies believed that the incident happened when the victim was trying to walk southbound across Alessandro at the time.

Firefighters along with the paramedics then arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian down on the ground. The patient sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the victim to a hospital, where they soon died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, deputies added that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site following the incident. Officers forced the area of Alessandro and Portola to shut down for a time after the accident.
