PALM DESERT, California (February 16, 2016) — Joseph Eilers, 22, of Palm Desert was killed Monday night when he was struck by a driver on the eastbound Highway 111 at Panorama Drive, a report by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The fatal pedestrian crash took place at 8:20 p.m. last night and prompted the temporary closure of the freeway between El Paseo and Deep Canyon Road.
Paramedics responded to the crash site and transported the injured man to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he later died of his injuries at 9:13 p.m.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have information, to contact the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1600.
