Motorcyclist Badly Hurt in Car Accident on Monterey Avenue
PALM DESERT, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2019) — A motorcyclist suffered major, non-life threatening injuries Monday morning in a collision with another vehicle on Monterey Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The collision was reported at 10:58 a.m. on Jan. 7. The Palm Desert Police Department responded to Monterey Avenue and Arboleda Drive where the crash occured.
Investigators stated that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Monterey Avenue when the rider collided into the back of an automobile.
The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected and he landed roughly 30 feet away from the bike on the center median. Paramedics rushed the injured motorcycle rider to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries. Police say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. Additionally, there were no reported injuries by the other motorist.

Typically, motorcycle riders are often cut off by other motorists change lanes in front of them because the driver may not see them approaching. This often causes this type of collision where a bike crashes into the back of a vehicle. It’s also possible that the rider was traveling too fast and wasn’t able to avoid slowing traffic. Police are going over the specific facts of this accident to determine fault.
